MANUAL WORKSHOPS

Sand, cardboard, paints, felt, clay, water. Underestimated materials, that can be used to create many things. Feeling of causativity and return to the pleasure of making things with own hands ? that’s the experience the manual workshops offer. SLOT is a giant DIY lab, school of creating and craft, which will help you to gain the willingness to transform reality on your own by bringing new forms into being!

• ABC ? 3D CARDBOARD LETTERS

Cardboard, one of the least appreciated materials. We will give him a second, quite nice life. Make with us a 3D letter, organizer, a mug coaster or anything that will come to your mind!

2. STOP-MOTION ANIMATION

turn 3 / G7 / 10 people / level 1

Do you want to bring your own drawn character to life? During the workshop, you can create a part of the animation, which plot we will make up together. Transparent tracing paper and drawing tools are waiting!

Piotr Więckowski ? freelancer, graphic designer, creator of computer animation, a graduate of architectonic drawing course, he works in creative industry.

3. FRUIT AND VEGETABLE CARVING

During the workshops, we will carve in fruits and vegetables. You will be able to choose any figure you want to make.  Participants are asked to bring their own favorite fruits and vegetables ? afterwards they’ can be consummated

4. SEQUIN DECORATIONS

During the workshop we will decorate Styrofoam shapes with pins and colorful sequins in order to obtain multicolored, fancy patterns. You can create a unique souvenir from SLOT Art Festival for yourself or for your loved ones.

5. CERAMICS

turn 3 / G8 / 25 people / level 1

You will be able to make a clay dish and bake it in a ceramic furnace. You will be able to decorate your own or one provided ceramic dish (a mug or a bowl) with an overglaze color. You can take your work with you!

Bernarda Gołąb ? a Master of Arts, graduate of ceramics instructor and art therapy course. An art & design and technology teacher, she runs her own creative studio.

6. DREADLOCKS

An aim of the workshop is passing knowledge about dreadlocks history, wearing them, making methods and care as well as using the gained knowledge to make your own dreadlock from synthetic hair.

Łukasz Winkler ? he runs his own dreadlocks studio in Wrocław ? ?Wu Kwadrat?. He organizes alternative hairdressing classes and holds the ?Expert of Fashionable Hair Cuts? certificate.

7. Tie dye T-SHIRT DYING

Learn to tie-dye a t-shirt ? this method allows fast, easy and cheap changing of your wardrobe into colorful craziness 😉 Participants are asked to bring their own white shirt.

8. FELTING

First, we will make felt elements and then we will use them to create our own, colorful jewelry.

9. PHOTOGRAMS

Photograms are photographical pictures made without a camera. We will apply a greasy cream to our lips, ears, noses, hands, feet and imprint them on a photosensitive material.

10. DUTCHMAN THE GAME

The ?Holender? (Dutchman) game came from Michael College in Breda, Netherlands. It?s a great way to improve concentration, aiming and hand-eye coordination ? and it gives a lot of fun!

Krzysztof Puchyra ? a photographer, musician, contemplative of the reality. He runs, plays basketball and swims. He works as an assistant of a disabled person.

11. GRAPHIC UPCYCLING

turn 2 / E5 / 10 people / level 1

Participants will learn three original graphic techniques based on making and using three types of printing template.  As a result, we will get unique works made with copying ink.

Agnieszka Firla ? a graduate of artistic high school, many times assisting with workshops dedicated to many different art techniques.

12. WOODEN HOUSES INSTALLATION

turn 3 / F9 / 15 people / level 3

An opportunity to create wooden, painted world!  You will be able to create houses, forests, cars and many more. Imagination is the only limit! At the end of the workshops, we will make a huge, common installation.

13. CONSERVATION-RESTORATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE

We will become art conservators. We will look for destroyed objects, clean and complete them. The Monastery and Lubiąż will turn into an archaeological works grounds!

Brygida Duda ? graduate of Conservation of Works of Arts Department of Fine Arts Academy in Warsaw, she works as an art conservator.

14. TAILORING

turn 3 / E3 / 10 people / level 1

You will learn how to use a sewing machine. Same will sew a bag, others ? a pillowcase.  Everyone will use the machine, learn basic stitches, accessories and sartorial techniques.

Justyna Wójcik ? graduate of TWP Wrocław tailoring course and an application course at Patchwork Wrocław. A tailor by education and passion, sewing since she was 5 years old.

15. FLOWERY WEAVE

Do you dream of a unique souvenir from SLOT? Make a flower crown! We will do our best to wake up your dormant creativity and in a few steps, we will bring your vision to life.  Workshop based on the make&take rule.

16. LINOCUT

turn 2 / E1 / 10 people / level 1

We draw images on pieces of linoleum and then we cut them using chisels. In this way, we receive a template, then covered with printing ink to create many copies of the same piece of art ? a postcard.

17. MY CITY AND WITHIN IT ? space design workshops

A workshop introducing a topic of architecture and spatial development. Participants will learn how to creatively design space around in lectures and will be able to try their hand in it (e.g. by designing small objects in public space)

18. CONCRETE MASONRY

Designing, pouring, mixing, spreading, tapping and then some waiting ? all of that to create ?concrete? items of everyday use.

Natalia Walczak ? a construction engineer, assistant designer in a construction office, lover and an expert on concrete.

19. ENGLISH PAPER PIECING PATCHWORK

turn 2 / F7 / 10 people / level 1

Aim: learning English Paper Piecing patchwork technique Idea? We would like to create something beautiful out of nothing. For whom? For everybody who knows which end of a needle pricks and wants to learn something new.

Sylwia Szczypińska ? a graduate of forestry and German studies. She sews, knits and makes handicraft out of passion.

20. PLASTER CASTS

turn 1 / G8 / 20 people / level 1

We will make plaster casts. For that we will create plaster sculptures and using them we will make plaster forms and then plaster casts. Our works we will decorate and paint.

Ewa Mackiewicz ? an animator, a graduate of many courses combining many different branches from art and work with people. She created and runs her own company Hihohotam.

21. Kanzashi ORIGAMI

turn 1 / F2 / 15 people / level 1

We will travel to the fairy-tale-like world of Japan and kanzashi flowers ? an original origami technique based on creating from fabric and ribbon. Together we will make hair decoration.

Małgorzata Słowik ? florist, artist, scrapbooker. She runs a lot of workshops about different art techniques.

22. SOCIAL POSTER

turn 3 / E5 / 15 people / level 3

The aim of this workshops is to acquaint participants with the characteristic of a social poster and to create works devoted to chosen social topics, using different manual techniques and poster-thinking.

23. WHAT IS A LOGO FOR?

Acquainting with a process of creating a logo and finding an answer to the question what logo is and what role does it play in creating an image of a company or an organization. Participants will create their signs in groups and individually.

24. PORTRAIT IN SPACE ? photography

Photographic and sociology workshops that will open up new possibilities of looking at a portrayed person and space, in which they are.

25. BADGES

Workshop on creating original, colorful badges.  You may create one for yourself or for a close person, based on your own idea, your favourite colour or pattern.

26. KNITTING WITH FINGERS

Workshop of knitting with your own fingers! Participants will create elements of wool jewelery and more advanced ? also elements of clothing!

Barbara Palewicz-Ryży ? she runs workshops on knitting at all levels. In TV Imperium in Gliwice, she created a program „Sztrykowanie na ekranie” (?Knitting on the screen?), her book „Robótki na paluszkach” (?Handicrafts on fingers?) was just published.

27. ARCHITECTURAL DRAWING

Every day we make an introduction to the theory of perspective drawing ? we’ll explain the basic rules of drawing forms in space, and when you draw, you can count on our help and corrections.

Andrzej Kabat ? lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, ABRYS College and in Autorskie Licea Artystyczne. Architect.

28. SCRAPBOOKING

Scrapbooking is a technique for everyone who likes making DIY gifts and surprise loved ones.  During the workshops, we will create boxes for cards and other miscellanea. We will decorate them by ourselves.

Maria Płóciennik ? cultural manager, art-therapist, family pedagogue, graduate of the pedagogy of circus course. She runs a lot of workshops on many techniques including scrapbooking.

29. DECORATIVE CANDLES,

We will make decorative candles in special forms. You can bring your own elements (dried fruits, beads, pasta) to sink it into the wax

30. MOULDING

We will make plaster casts (sculptures, frames, pictures, candlesticks). Every souvenir you will be able to paint and take with yourself. Spectacular results guaranteed!

31. LITTLE WALDORF DOLL SEWING

The aim of the workshop is sewing small Waldorf dolls, Creating of the doll will take four days, that’s why we encourage to participate in the whole workshops.  Dolls will be made of natural materials ? including recycled ones.

32. RECYCLED CROCHETING

How to use unwanted t-shirts and create something new?  We will recycle them, making wool and crochet baskets and other things.

33. MACRAME TEXTILES

Macramé has been used to create decorative elements for years. You can create a plant hanger, a fabric or a bag. You just need a stick, string, hands, and imagination.

34.  INK-MANIA

We are going to blow on, draw with sticks, tooth picks, feathers etc. ink stains. We will connect, tangle and scratch strips, dots and stains. At the end of the workshops, we will make an exhibition of ?inkmaniacs? works..

35. RATTAN BASKETS WEAVING

turn 2 / G8 / 12 people / level 1

We will make little baskets with natural and dyed rattan. You are going to learn how to prepare material, different weaves, and ways to give your works an individual character. Relaxation and satisfaction guaranteed.
Krystyna Laskowska-Dzięciołowska ? by profession and passion a handicraft instructor, occupation therapist, naturalist and a master of wickerwork. She has been teaching wickerwork for 16 years.

36. WEAVING ON A CHAIN-LINK FENCE

turn 2 / A3 / 14 people / level 1

The open-air workshop thanks to which, you will be able to join other participants of the festival to weave ?Slot Art Festival 2018? sign on a chain-link fence of one of the houses in Lubiąż! Part of garbage produced during the festival (like washed straws or clean trash bags) will be used to make letters.

37. STRING-WOVEN

turn 2 / F4 / 25 people / level 1

How to make, in an easy and cheap way, a cloche, a lampshade, a Christmas ball, a vase or a mug? This workshop consists of creating with strings, glue and dyes. Each participant go through several steps, from choosing the size and kind of an ornament, material and color to the final construction.

38. LET’S MAKE A TANGLED DOLL

During this workshop, you will get to know what Motanka doll (lit. „tangled doll”) is and where it is from ? then we design, tangle and present our dolls.
